As a Community Engagement Officer, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with various neighbourhoods across London. During a visit to Earl’s Court—a vibrant and diverse area—I came across a local non-profit that immediately caught my attention. That encounter led me to meet Sherain Williams, CEO of one of the area’s longest-standing community organizations.

The organisation has been serving Earl’s Court since the 1970s, offering vital support to residents through food programmes, outreach services, and a safe, welcoming space for those in need. Though Sherain joined more recently, her leadership has already brought new energy and direction to the organisation.

From our first meeting, Sherain was warm, attentive, and clearly committed to the work. I had the opportunity to collaborate with her during one of their Food Bank Days—an initiative that was not only organized but deeply rooted in community care and inclusion.

As CEO, Sherain balances operational leadership with a clear focus on the needs of the people the organisation serves. Her background as a talented artist also brings a creative dimension to her role, fostering a space that feels both practical and uplifting.

Working with Sherain was an insightful experience. I witnessed firsthand how long-standing community infrastructure, paired with responsive leadership, can create meaningful and lasting impact. Her approach is people-focused, solutions-driven, and grounded in the realities of the Earl’s Court community.

To my surprise, she even organised a farewell dinner party in my honour. It was a heartfelt gesture that reflected her character: empowering, thoughtful, and always centred on connection. As a final highlight, I also had the opportunity to join her at a radio broadcast where she was being interviewed about her work and the community. Hearing her speak about the mission and values behind the organisation made everything come full circle.

Working with Sherain Williams, CEO, was a truly inspiring experience—one that not only deepened my understanding of local community work but also reminded me of the lasting impact of compassionate leadership.
